What kinds of productions can be in the festival?
The 2017 festival is open to any performance art production, at any venue in the NoHo and surrounding Valley areas, with performances occurring anytime from October 12 - November 19, 2017 ("Pre-Fringe" is Oct 12-15, and the Festival officially opens on Oct 19). Stage plays, musicals, one-person shows, bands, solo acts, dance, sketch, improv, storytelling, readings... you name it. All are welcome, and awards will be presented in many categories.
Is there a registration deadline?
As registrations come in, productions will be added to the online Fringe Guide and to our ongoing social media & email promotions. Register your production as soon as you can (the sooner the better) - but if you're still getting your production together or finding a venue, you can register almost anytime, even while the fest is in progress. The only real deadline is the end of the festival. :)
What if my production opens before the festival begins, or closes after the festival ends?
As long as there's at least one performance during the festival dates, you can register - and we'll list all your performance dates (if you provide them), even those happening shortly before or after the festival.
What are the fees to register a production?
For productions with one or two performances, the registration fee is $60
(or $220 with NoHoArtsDistrict.com promo package).
For productions with three or more performances, the registration fee is $85
(or $245 with NoHoArtsDistrict.com promo package).
You can bundle your registration with a promotion package from NoHoArtsDistrict.com, which gives your production an Ad on the front page of their high-traffic website, mentions in their social media promotions, PLUS a professional, published review. And, you get a reduced price on the promotions package!
The revenue from registration fees is used to help cover the expenses of running and promoting the festival, which is separate from any venue-related fees/costs for producers.
How do I sell tickets for my show?
You can sell tickets through the service provider of your choice, unless your venue requires a different arrangement. There are many good ticketing services, including brownpapertickets.com, which provides online & phone sales, lots of setup options, low fees, and good customer service.
When you register your production, enter your ticket link and we'll include it in your online Fringe Guide listing, so patrons can easily click to buy your tickets!
How can my venue participate in the festival?
It's very easy - once any production occurring at your venue is registered with the festival, your venue is a participating venue! We'll provide some Fringe materials (posters and such) and ask that you display them, we'll add your venue to the online Fringe Guide to help more people learn about and find your place, and of course we'll invite you & your staff to join in Fringe activities! For venues, there's no cost, no extra work, and plenty of benefits!
What if my venue is the producer of a show?
It's still easy - just register your production, and enjoy the benefits for producers as well as the benefits for venues!
Will the festival refer producers looking for a venue to me?
Yes, if you let us know you have availability for bookings, we'll gladly share your info with producers needing a space.
Does my booking process change because of the festival?
Not necessarily. There's nothing required of you by the festival, and you can book or not book whatever productions you choose, just like any other time of the year. And you can charge whatever you want to charge for rentals. However, during festivals, patrons and performers are open to a greater variety of show times, like afternoons and late-night slots, as well as a tighter schedule - so you might be able to book more performances than usual, and gain more traffic and more revenue from it.
